Softly My Guitar Plays
This song was written in 1984 on a secluded beach. Waves rolling in front of me with the rainforest of the Daintree in Far north Queensland behind me, as I sat in contemplation, loving nature and feeling at peace with the world. If you have been to this magical place you would understand exactly what I mean. To me it also represents my love for music and my guitar, My guitar has been a constant friend and savior to me all thru my younger years and most of my life. Gently strumming or picking randomly at the string, creating. Sitting in nature is so inspiring and I always always make sure I have pen and paper so as not to lose the inspiration that would surely flow. I feel there is a kinship of sorts between Song, Prose and Nature like they are entwined in a mystical magical way. It proves that I can and do compose songs that are not about societies corruption and injustices as it has a gentleness laced with hope. This song somehow reminds me of Gently my guitar weeps by George Harrison and the Beatles, not sure why, the words and music are not the same at all, maybe it is just the similar title. Any way Enjoy my latest offering.
