I wrote this song in 1986, written firstly as a poem and then adding the Music a bit later on. Having no Chorus, it does, to me, feel more like musical prose. The words are the highlight of this Song and I am proud of the message it brings. It really focuses on living your life how you want, your way, with your heart guiding you. If everyone was to truly listen to their hearts, I know this world would be in a much happier space. Our hearts don’t lie to us. Our hearts always come from a place of Love, if someone thinks they are following their heart and what it is saying is Negative and Hateful, this is usually not the heart at all. This is coming from a place of Ego and the ego can be selfish, unkind, untrue and driven by base desire and wants, not what is truly good for our life. True feeling from the heart can be a little hard in this distracting, chaotic world we find ourselves in. But to truly be in touch with our heart is a treasure beyond them all, inner peace and happiness. Isn’t that what we are all wanting to have in our existence, well I know that is my goal.
